The SIDI Crossfire 3 SRS are the latest and most advanced off-road boots of the Italian brand. They are a novelty for 2017, where the Italian brand proposes and important evolution of the Crossfire, in comfort as well as features, so that they are still the best boots on the market for Motocross, Enduro and Supermotard professionals.
Construction and materials
The SIDI Crossfire 3 SRS are made of Techno Micro, a synthetic fibre similar in appearance to leather but with better resistance values, and numerous polyurethane inserts which form part of the rigid structure of the boot. This rigid structure is articulated via the new flex system, called SIDI Hyperextension Block. It is a completely new mechanism, which affords freer ankle movement in actions such as changing gears, whilst reducing the lateral flex of the ankle, or hyperextension, source of most foot lesions. Therefore, we have a more comfortable boot but also safer.
Also the heel area has been redesigned. The instep and the toe box no have more polyurethane, which means greater strength, and with lined tread affording greater grip to the shifter and brake levers.
Extensive work has been carried out on the boot’s shaft to incorporate the calf extension system patented by SIDI. The shaft of the boot is covered by two rigid elements, one exterior with the polyurethane protections and the other interior. This system allows you to vary (via screws) the anchoring of the protections, which are fixed to the rigid exterior element. This means that by varying the anchors we gain calf diameter, making it a boot which adapts to our morphology. The Crossfire 3 SRS have improved this system and now offers more adjustment possibilities, in front as well as rear shaft protections.
Interior, adjustments and closure.
Inside, the Crossfire 3 SRS follows the path of its predecessors, with a Teflon treated, vented mesh lining from the ankle to mid-calf, which prevents the absorption of water and sweat. The upper part of the shaft is lined with a soft mesh and has special padding in the shin. And in the toe box we have a Cambrelle lining, which is highly abrasion resistant and affords rapid moisture wicking enduring a high level of quick drying.
The closures are still entrusted to the metal buckle system with micrometric straps which retain their position. The fit has been improved in the Crossfire 3 via the Velcro panels placed inside the shaft, which are now wider.
One of the great features of the Crossfire SRS is the replaceable sole system, which leads to the models name (Sole Replacement System). And in this third evolution of the Crossfire, it has been modified and simplified: now only 4 screws hold the sole instead of the prior 16, which signifies a drastic reduction in weight and difficulty for changing the sole. This is also due to the toe box and heel of the sole being fixed, with polyurethane reinforcement for greater durability. The new sole presents a new design with greater thickness, higher for greater grip.
In summary, SIDI has given a further twist to their 2017 off-road competition boot model: the Crossfire 3 SRS are a clear improvement in dynamism on the bike, adaptable for greater comfort and safety.
