One of the greatest references in Motocross helmets, especially as regards weight, is the successful Airoh Aviator and now a worthy heir to the saga hits the market, the new Aviator 2.1. The fruit of Airoh’s constant investigation process to improve Off Road Helmets. In our hands today we have the “Six Days” limited edition of this lightweight and comfortable helmet.

Without a doubt, the Airoh Aviator 2.1 is one of the best off road helmets available. Light, cool, aerodynamic, silent, easy to wash and very safe, also available in a “Six Days” limited edition with special decor to commemorate the centenary of the legendary Enduro race.

The handmade outer shell is of carbon and Kevlar composite fibres according to the stratification technique, thanks to which it is possible to incorporate nerves that reinforce the shell, increasing its rigidity and thus its impact absorption capacities. Also, due to these being very light weight materials, the final weight of the helmet does not exceed one kilo (980g in size M), which also facilitates off road use.

As regards available sizes, there are three shell sizes so as to better adapt to the different physical constitutions of each rider.

The Airoh Aviator 2.1 achieves great airflow due to its 12 inlets, perfectly integrated into its design. Thus, once the fresh air enters the helmet through the front openings, this pushes the hot air around the head and expels it via the rear exit orifices, in this way creating a constant and regular cooling circuit such that the air is constantly renewed and the rider does not get too hot. To this end, the airflow is also helped by the design and position of the interior ventilation ducts of the shell.

On the other hand, the air inlets also have metallic protection grids so that nothing else but air enters, leaving impurities and dust outside. In the same way, if the rider wants to limit or invert the airflow, they can easily do so by reducing the entrance of the large upper openings with two special covers included in the helmet, which could be recommendable under certain weather conditions, such as rain.

The interior of the Airoh Aviator 2.1 is easy to disassemble for washing and is made of 2-Dry microfiber, which, amongst anther advantages, has a very pleasant feel, is anti-allergenic and breathable and provides a very cool sensation by rapidly expelling moisture outside so that the rider sweats less. The interior is made up of one piece of padding and some side comfort pads, all these inner pads can be changed so that they better adapt to the constitution of the rider and therefore the helmet is always an ideal fit.

The padding is made of an elastic microfiber fabric in those areas that require maximum softness due to being in contact with the head. In the same way, apart from being a very comfortable and cool helmet for the rider, it also has a neck protector on the rear that improves the stability of the helmet on the nape and limits the entry of air, thus reducing internal noise. The interior also has emergency release tabs so that, in the event of an accident, the specialised personnel may remove the helmet as quickly as possible without causing additional harm to the injured rider.

The aerodynamic peak provides an easy and personal adjustment in two different senses; it by just loosening the screws (two side and one upper) adjust it to your taste or to the conditions of the moment. Also, the aerodynamic design and the presence of ample openings ensure optimum airflow towards the back which eliminates the lifting effect, thus avoiding overloading the neck area. Lastly, the Airoh Aviator 2.1 offers two peak options, the short version (18 mm), which comes as standard, and the long (55 mm) which comes as an accessory and is more appropriate for wet and/or muddy conditions.
