Review: LS2 Valiant helmet

Reviews and tests 12 July, 2017

We analyze...

The LS2 Valiant is a modular helmet approved to circulate with both the open and closed chin rest and has a curious but effective chin opening system. The helmet stands out for its great versatility and its integrated sun visor with mirror effect.

The LS2 Valiant shell is made of KPA (Kinetic Polymer Alloy), an exclusive polymer alloy that stands out for being very robust and offering excellent shock absorption in the event of accident.

In addition, for a better fit to each size, the Valiant is marketed with two sizes of shell.

The chin rest has an oscillation of 180°. A construction that reminds us of the Shark Evoline and Evo-One. The main advantages of this opening system are that we win aerodynamic efficiency when driving in jet mode and that we improve the distribution of weights when we circulate in jet mode. In this way, our neck makes less effort and it is more comfort.

In addition, this system allows us to travel with the screen lowered. When we want to return to integral mode and we low the chin rest, the Valiant’s screen automatically goes back up. The system is automated, so that we win in comfort and prevents that we have to move the screen manually.

The LS2 Valiant has a double P/J approval, which allows us to move with the chinstrap open or closed according to our preferences. Its weight is around 1700 grams for a M size.

The screen is clear and is made of Lexan injected with anti-scratch treatment and protection against ultra violet rays. In addition, the helmet includes a Max Vision pinlock.

The opening mechanism is very simple, using the cam located in the upper front part of the screen. In the same way, the extraction system is very intuitive and doesn’t need the use of tools.

The integrated sun visor covers much of the face and has the particularity that it is finished with mirror effect. It is difficult to go unnoticed if we make use of it. It is operated by the lever on the left side of the helmet base.

The ventilation system consists of two front air inlets (at the top and the chin rest) and rear outlets with grille, non-adjustable, for good circulation of the internal airflow. The front air inlets can be opened and closed comfortably.

The interior of the LS2 Valiant has a breathable, antibacterial fabric designed to help ventilation. In addition, the interior paddings stand out by being pre-formed by laser cutting for excellent ergonomics and a perfect fit to our head.

LS2 Valiant

As a good touring helmet, the interiors of the Valiant are completely removable and washable and have a steel micrometric clousre, comfortable and easy to handle.

Although the helmet looks somewhat heavy, even when it is a modular, the feeling is not so much when we wear it. The paddings are really comfortable.

But undoubtedly its strong point is the facility to manipulate it with a single hand, both the chinstrap, the ventilations, screen, etc. What makes it a really practical helmet.

Other details

Other aspects that can help you decide for this helmet are the chin curtain that comes standard, the reflective elements in the collar and the base of the helmet to be more visible in driving at night or in low light and the predisposition to install The Linkin Ride Pal II intercom, although it must be purchased separately.

LS2 Valiant

In short, with the LS2 Valiant we have a versatile modular helmet ideal for those who are looking for protection and comfort with a great value-for-money.

The pluses. The LS2 Variant is a very comfortable helmet, The chin bar and visor operation is outstanding and makes single-handed operation easy and fast.

The negatives. The sun shield operation failed in less than 6 months. Noise levels are high (somewhat expected with a modular). Customer service in the US is poor and repairs inconvenient.
