The HJC IS-Max II is the brands' sport-touring convertible helmet with polycarbonate shell. Taking as basis the IS-17, this convertible helmet has one of the best value for money product in the market.
As we mentioned, the basis of this helemt is another HJC product: the IS-17. Both helmets share the lines, being quite similar, but the main difference is the chance of the chinguard displacement on the IS-Max 2.
The shell is made with advanced polycarbonate and it has been designed to include the sun visor on its inside. Its total weight is nearly 1750 grams for a L size. Its chin guard can be opened through a red button placed on the lowest area of the chin. Its displacement is easy and soft and its closure safe thanks to a pair of metallic hooks.
The helmet’s ventilation system has two main air inlets in the shell’s front area, with a three positions closure. The air is diverted to the inside through EPS channels and extracted on two air outlets in the rear area of the shell. In the chin we find another air inlet, with an on-off closure, which prevents the mist on the shield.
The 3D shield of the halmet features anti-scratch treatment and it has been designed for installing a Pinlock system, but this accessorie it is not included on the helmet as standard. If we want to remove the shield, the system ‘QuickSlide’ will help us to remove it easily and without any tool: we must to open it at its highest position and pull two levers placed in both sides of the shield’s mechanism.
The helmet also has a sun visor integrated, named ‘One-Touch SunShield’. This visor can be adjusted in two positions and can be hidden automatically through a button in the top area of the shell. If we wear goggles we also can use this visor comfortably.
Interiors and closure
The internal padding of the helmet is fully removable and washable. In the upper area we find high ventilated zones where ventilation is optimised. On the lowest area the helmet features microfiber and HJC includes a removable chin protector for the winter season. The closure is a micrometric system and its straps have padding areas for a nice touch on the neck.
The HJC IS-Max 2 is the perfect helmet for those who are looking for a convertible helmet at a very nice price.
