The Scorpion Exo 1200 Air is a sport-touring helmet ideal for carrying in all kinds of conditions. It is almost lacking in everything and stands out especially for the Airfit system, an exclusive system of the brand that allows to inflate and deflate the inner side pads.
The Scorpion Exo 1200 Air shell is very light thanks to the new TCT (Thermodynamic Composite Technology) structure, offering an excellent level of protection. In case of impact, the shell is designed to deform gradually, allowing it to absorb most of the energy generated by the impact itself.
In addition, the helmet is marketed with three different sizes of outter shell to better adapt to each size.
Its weight is around 1500 grams for a size L, an average weight taking into account this size and that is a helmet that features sun visor and different accessories.
The Scorpion Exo 1200 Air has an efficient ventilation system, designed to maximize the air flow inside.
In the chin rest we find an air inlet with up to three closing positions, while in the front part of the screen we have two large air intakes, adjustable by means of a small closure.
At the rear of the hull we see up to four air outlets, two upper ones that are the extension of the entires, and two lower ones feature a grid designed to evacuate the heat generated in the interior.
It should also be noted that the rear spoiler improves aerodynamics and maximizes the flow of air through the shell. Once on the helmet, the shell offers a good stability although it must always be remembered that this will be marked by the type of bike in which we ride and the presence (or absence) of the screen in it.
The screen of the Exo 1200 Air is lifted by a cam located on the left side of the screen, comfortable and functional. But it also has a locking system: a lever at the left end of the screen allows to lock it in a closed or slightly open position, depending on the conditions and our preferences at any time.
Also for the practicality of the helmet, the Speedshift system guarantees the replacement of the screen in less than 10 seconds.
The interior solar visor, called Speedview, is easily replaceable and has anti-fog treatment on both sides. It is operated by the lever located on the left side of the helmet, just above the locking lever of the screen.
Regarding the screen it’s important to know that it comes standard with a Maxvision Pinlock, which creates a permanent air chamber preventing condensation from forming, even when the temperature difference between the exterior and the interior of the hull is high.
Inside the helmet is where we undoubtedly find a great difference from other helmet. The Scorpion Exo 1200 Air has an exclusive adjustment system called Airfit in which a pump located near the chin allows to inflate and deflate the side paddings, providing a perfect fit to our face and also reducing the noise level. This is a very original solution that has allowed us to travel with the more comfortable helmet in city tours and get a plus of adjustment at high speeds.
In addition to this system, the helmet features a soft and comfortable Kwikwick3 inner padding, with antiallergic treatment, removable and washable. Furthermore, the side pads can be removed quickly in case of an accident.
Fastener and details
Finally, the locking system is a Double-D buckle, the safest on the market. It is also commercialized with nose cover, improving the anti-fogging performance, and also comes with a chinguard to reduce noise and enhance confort. Both accessories are detachable.
In summary, with the Exo 1200 Air, Scorpion offers a very complete helmet within the sport-touring segment and with great features, among them its lightness, its good protection against impacts and the Airfit system.
