Review: Belstaff Kate’s Cottage Cotton Lady, a vintage look

Reviews and tests 22 February, 2016

We analyze...

The British brand introduces us the Kate's Cottage Cotton Lady, an urban motorcyclist jacket for ladies Classical and vintage lines for a high quality jacket, very suitable urban and commuting use. The classic vintage and cafe racer looks is combined with the lastest innovations on protections and materials.

The jacket recives his name from Isle of Man’s TT Kate’s Cottage corner with the ‘Cotton’ nomenclature added because cotton is one of the main materials of the jacket, a waxed cotton with 6 ounces soy oil that gives a vintage look and a distinctive touch to the jacket, along increasing cotton’s endurance and durability.

The jacket also incorporates Miporex membrane with taped seams. This membrane allows cotton perspiration after being waxed, while protecting us from wind and water, as it has waterproof properties. As a detail, the jacket features water-evacuation “portholes” in both sleeves and in the waist.
Inside, cotton remains the protagonist and is featured on both chest and sleeves inner lining. In the neck and sleeves edge we find corduroy, offering a warm and pleasant feel.

Kate’s Cottage Cotton has soft, approved and removable protections on shoulders and elbows from D30 brand. These protections dissipate the energy of any possible crash, which is highly recomended for riding on the city and interurban areas. In addition, Kate’s Cottage Cotton has zippered compartment for inserting a back protector, but it does not comes as standard.
Fasteners and pockets
There’s a main zipper combined with press buttons on a flap, offering us better sealing. Furthermore, the neck features a fastener with a buckle, and we also find different snap fasteners along the sleeves and the waist with.
The jacket has four outer pockets, all on the front. Three of them are zippered, while on our left side we find a fourth, featuring flap pocket with button closure. Inside, we only we have one zippered pocket.

The jacket is available in two colors: the traditional British Racing Green, and Russet, a light brown tone. Kate’s Cottage Cotton is part of Belstaff Pure Motorcycle range, whose garments offer a plus in distinction and design from other brands for those who don’t want to choose between urban style or protection to go riding: with the Kate’s Cottage Cotton you can have both in one jacket.
