Dainese launches a major innovation as far as leather jackets are concerned. It is the Racing 3, a sports jacket that stands out for being very light and for offering excellent freedom of movement. In addition, the Italian company markets it for both men and women.
Materials and construction
The Dainese Racing 3 is certified according to CE regulations – Cat. II – 89/686 / EEC.
The jacket is made of Tutu cowhide leather with bi-elastic S1 fabric inserts.
In addition, Microelastic 2.0 inserts and soft inserts located in key areas of the jacket allow us a great freedom of movement on top of the bike, in the same way as the inserts in stretch fabric, which help comfort and adaptability of the garment to our body.
As a good sports jacket the rear area is elongated for greater comfort in driving position, especially when we are coupled to the bike.
For its part, the neck is leather with a neoprene finish in the area that is more exposed to rubbing with our skin.
After trying it we can say that with the jacket on right away we realize that we are in front of a sports jacket because of its tight fit and the great elasticity it offers. However, it is perfect for day to day and on any road since it does not reach the extreme sports of the Dainese Mugello, among others.
Being a sports jacket but very versatile we can take it with any type of motorcycle, being ideal for lovers of naked and sports.
It must be said that the different fabrics applied on the jacket perform their function perfectly. And is that comfort is not hindered at any time, highlighting the adaptability to the whole trunk at all times, both on and off the bike.
Although the jacket is not waterproof, it acts as a windbreaker, so that we can wear it perfectly on the coldest days, provided that we combine it with some thermal underwear, and that it is designed to be worn throughout the year.
The neoprene located in the neck area is appreciated when we perform movements with the head, especially on winding roads, since the friction with the skin is much more pleasant.
The jacket incorporates protections on shoulders and elbows certified according to EN 1621.1., in addition to aluminum plates on the shoulders. Also on the shoulders, we find thermoformed inserts covered in leather.
In the back there is a compartment prepared to mount a back protector type G, while in the chest we also see a space to mount a chest protector Double Chest. Both are not included and must be purchased separately.
In terms of safety, the reflective elements also stand out to be more visible when driving at night or in low light.
Interior and ventilation
Inside the jacket has a NanoFeel lining with silver ion treatment. These linings are especially appreciated as they allow air circulation inside the Racing 3, in addition to improving running comfort.
In addition, the jacket has four air inlets with a zipper, two in the chest area and two on the sides, all to improve ventilation and internal air flow.
Pockets, closure and details
The jacket has two outer pockets, one on each side of the jacket.
The main closure is by zipper. As for the cuffs and the waist, these are adjustable, the first with Velcro and the waist thanks to a tape with snap buttons.
The Racing 3 also has a jacket-and-pants connection zipper if you want to attach it to a pair of trousers to achieve a combination very similar to a sports suit.
In the Lady version, in addition to being designed for the feminine physiognomy, highlights the extra interior pocket.
In short, with the Racing 3, Dainese launches an ideal sports leather jacket to ride on the circuit, city or road. The balance between comfort and protection is perfect, getting an aggressive and versatile jacket at the same time. Racing 3, as we have said, is marketed for men and women and is also offered in the Estiva version, with microperforations on the leather for the hottest seasons.
