Shopping guidesHow to choose your motorcycle helmet
Which motorcycle helmet to buy? What types of helmets are there? Which one is the ideal for you? We tell this in this definitive guide on motorcycle helmets.
A motorcycle helmet thermoplastic or fiber? What are the materials of a motorcycle helmet? Discover below all the possible compositions for the manufacture of your motorcycle helmet. Which motorcycle helmet do you choose? Fiberglass, carbon, Aramid? or thermoplastic?
It remains for us to comment on the materials, (which is also very related to the range of the helmet). What are the materials used to make a helmet?
Thermoplastic
The cap can be made of “thermoplastic”, polycarbonate or thermoplastic resin. It is the least expensive material for the manufacture of the helmet since this process consists of using a prefabricated mold to inject this material.
These helmets therefore have a cheaper selling price, although generally this material deteriorates more quickly. Do not panic either, since our helmets on sale are still approved to circulate.
Fiberglass helmets & Tricomposite
Let’s switch to fiberglass helmets. This is the most used material for mid-range helmets to offer good value for money.
Then there is Tricomposite. Here, do not be afraid of the name, it’s just a mix of carbon fiber, glass, and Aramid. Each manufacturer has his secret recipe and does as he sees fit. As you could imagine here, this type of material offers better impact resistance.
Finally, there is the mixture of carbon with Aramid or fiber (depending on the manufacturer). It is here, attention, the best material currently on the market.
Why ? Because it is the material that will offer you the lightest possible motorcycle helmet. Are you looking for a lightweight helmet? As you can imagine, the carbon motorcycle helmets are high-end or even very high-end helmets.
