Better safe than sorry. That's the only motto that we can apply in order to avoid a nightmare, which unfortunately, is very common amongst bikers: the theft of our beloved motorbike. Luckily, there are manufacturers like Abus, Oxford or Xena that know how to protect that which we love most and have a range of antitheft systems that adapt to our needs.
One of the most popular antitheft devices is the brake disc lock. They're small, they fit in your pocket, and are easy to fit and remove. You can take them anywhere, which is why they're so popular amongst city users, who unfortunately are those that suffer these types of theft the most. Another practical solution are U-locks, they provide great strength as they're made from a single solid piece and there's no moving part that could weaken it.
But the best is to use these systems in combination with a chain and lock or a chain with an anchor. The chains are a classic, as they immobilise the bike to a place. So, if we combine a system that immobilises the bike with another that impedes its function, you have complete security. There are also ground anchors that'll make your motorbike unmovable to thieves. And what about your helmet? Well, luckily enough, there are locks for helmets and for accommodating other accessories.
Seeing as carrying these protection elements is not always comfortable, there are also supports for locks, such that you don't have to go without just because they're awkward to carry around. And to supplement the antitheft kit, the best is to get one that has a built in alarm .
