Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 Airbag System. Alpinestars has redefined protection for bikers with the autonomous Tech-Air 5® airbag system.

The Tech-Air® 5 is the latest addition to the Alpinestars Tech-Air® range, in addition to the already existing Tech-Air® Race Tech-Air® Street systems.

It's very thin and self-contained because the sensors are located on the airbag itself. This system can be used under any jacket. You have to keep in mind that the jacket must be large enough to accommodate the expansion of the airbag in case of impact. For textile jackets, this requires an additional space of 4 cm around the body circumference. In the case of leather jackets, 4 cm of additional space is required around the chest circumference. It is also compatible with the Alpinestars jackets predisposed to carry it as they incorporate expansion panels to accommodate the inflation of the airbag.

It offers inflatable protection in the area of the back, shoulders, ribs and breast. It very effectively protects and minimizes possible lesions in the shoulder and clavicle. The Tech-Air 5® provides the most complete coverage available.

With an active electronic system that has six built-in sensors (3 gyros and 3 accelerometers) with an impact algorithm that takes advantage of AI to decide with precision the time to deploy the airbag in case of impact. The Tech-Air 5 incorporates the latest generation of technology derived and developed over the years in MotoGP. We have also analysed data of millions of kilometres of Alpinestars customers driving to continually improve the smart algorithm of accident detection. The Tech-Air 5 detects when the rider crashes and inflates in just 20 to 40 milliseconds depending on the volume of the size of the airbag. It offers an impact absorption which results in a decrease of the impact force by up to 95% in comparison with a passive protector. It provides protection equivalent to 18 back protectors with CE level 1 certification.

It is extremely easy to use; simply do up the gilet, the magnetic lapel and you will be ready to ride. A LED indicator indicates the operational status of the airbag. The built-in lithium-ion battery has a duration of 30 hours. The system comes equipped with a magnetic micro USB charger that allows for quick and easy recharging.

With a highly ventilated, lightweight, thin, and very flexible back protector. Manufactured in sturdy mesh with stretch inserts in the shoulders and torso; it offers an excellent fit and freedom of movement.  

With Bluetooth connectivity, and via the built-in Tech-Air® App you can check the operating state of the system, the state of the battery and you can see a detailed analysis of the trip. The system firmware can also be updated directly through the application.
